Birla Pushes Dairy Cooperatives in Kota-Bundi
Om Birla has called for a major expansion of dairy cooperatives to accelerate integrated dairy development in Rajasthan’s Kota-Bundi region, while chairing a high-level review meeting at Parliament House on March 27, 2026.
The meeting, attended by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh and senior officials, focused on strengthening the dairy ecosystem through cooperative expansion, improved milk processing infrastructure, better marketing, and enhanced livestock productivity via breeding, nutrition, and healthcare.
Key directives included scaling up Artificial Insemination coverage, digitising the dairy value chain, promoting manure management, and setting up small biogas units and fodder production plants to ensure year-round green fodder availability.
Birla emphasised expanding cooperative networks to every village through the Kota Milk Union and ‘Ujala MPO’, installing electronic milk testing equipment and bulk milk coolers, and ensuring 100% digital payments directly to farmers’ bank accounts.
Drawing inspiration from Amul, he urged scaling up processing capacity and cooperative societies, alongside awareness campaigns and subsidies under the Kota Dairy Development Scheme. Officials also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen fodder supply through a cattle feed plant and noted that around 100 youth are currently
being trained as Artificial Insemination technicians, while progress on the proposed Animal Veterinary College in Kota was also reviewed. (NewsGram)
