ANIIDCO Revises Milk Procurement and Retail milk Prices

ANIIDCO Revises Milk Procurement and Retail milk Prices
Prefer on

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation (ANIIDCO) has announced a revision in milk procurement rates and retail prices for dairy products, effective April 15, 2025. This decision aims to balance the interests of local dairy farmers while ensuring affordability for consumers across the islands.

Under the new structure, ANIIDCO will now procure cow milk at ₹58 per litre and buffalo milk at ₹70 per litre from farmers, marking a ₹3 per litre increase for both categories. On the retail front, the price of ANIIDCO Cow Milk (500 ml pouch) has been revised to ₹33, up from ₹32, while the price of ANIIDCO Buffalo Milk (500 ml) is now ₹40, a ₹1 increase. Other products such as curd, paneer, and ghee will also see marginal price adjustments.

This move reflects rising input costs in dairy farming, including fodder, transportation, and operational expenses in the islands’ unique geography. ANIIDCO’s intervention is positioned as a welfare measure for dairy farmers, ensuring they receive fair compensation while safeguarding consumer access to quality milk and dairy products.

ANIIDCO plays a crucial role in maintaining price stability and milk availability in this remote territory, where logistical challenges often impact market dynamics.

Industry Insight:
ANIIDCO’s price revision highlights the delicate balance of farm-gate economics and retail affordability in geographically isolated regions. For policy-makers and dairy enterprises, it reinforces the importance of adaptive pricing strategies and government-backed support systems in sustaining local dairy ecosystems.
