General assembly of IDF has unanimously elected RS Sodhi MD GCMMF in the board of the International Dairy Federation (IDF) on June 1,2021.

Commenting on his nomination to IDF, Sodhi mentioned, “It is an honour for me to represent the world’s largest milk producing country and contribute to promoting Sustainable Goals of dairying and also meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.”

Sodhi has spent almost 4 a long time with the cooperative dairy behemoth Amul. His contribution in making Amul among the many world’s high 10 dairy manufacturers has been exceptional.

The business turnover of GCMMF has grown by 390 per cent from ₹8,005 crore in 2009-10 to ₹39,238 crore throughout 2020-21.

Last year, the then chairman of NDDB Dilip Rath was unanimously elected to the board of the worldwide dairy physique.

IDF is a world non-governmental, non-profit affiliation having members from National Committees constituted by dairy organisations in every nation. India is represented by the National Committee (INC) of the IDF. Sodhi additional added that India’s cooperative method constitutes a vital technique by which hundreds of thousands of dairy farmers are being empowered to have a degree enjoying area out there and get a good share of the worth of milk. “Dairying is the growth engine of our farm sector. It is not only about providing nutrition to consumers but also about ensuring sustainable livelihood for our dairy farmers.”

The spectacular growth and self-sufficiency within the dairy sector has been made potential by the concerted efforts of the dairy farmers, Government of India, NDDB and plenty of different stakeholders.

The world dairy sector is poised to play an necessary position in the direction of meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goal geared toward eliminating starvation by 2030.
