Amul to replicate Gujarat dairy cooperative model in AP

State Government support

The State government will spend ₹3,500 crore to supply high quality breed cows and buffaloes to about 4.69 lakh ladies from the underprivileged sections. Sodhi, together with prime officers of Amul, was in Amaravathi on Wednesday to mark the launch of a pilot in 400 villages of Prakasam, Chittoor, and Kadapa districts. Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister formally launched the pilot on Wednesday.

After the six-month-long pilot, the milk procurement will likely be expanded to different parts of the State, with a promise to supply ₹5-7 a litre extra to the dairy farmers. Besides offering them with high quality milch animals, the State government will assist the ladies cooperatives within the upkeep of the cattle.

Bulk milk cooling models (BMCUs) will likely be arrange on the cooperatives that produce greater than 2,000 litres a day.

The Gujarat crew

Each district can have a core crew with the District Collector performing as a Special Officer (Amul Project) and Joint Collectors and Joint Director (Animal Husbandry) as members.
