Amul Launches ₹80 High Protein Cubes with 25g Protein

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets products under the Amul brand, has launched Amul High Protein Cubes, a ready-to-eat savoury snack containing 25 grams of protein in a 38-gram pack. Priced at ₹80, the product delivers 150 kcal per serving and marks Amul’s expansion into the high-protein snacking category.

The launch, announced on October 30, reflects the cooperative’s strategy to extend its protein-focused portfolio into more convenient food formats and new consumption occasions.

25g Protein in a Single-Serve Snack

Amul High Protein Cubes contain approximately 65% protein by weight, according to the company. The product is sold in a box of five individual 38-gram packs, with a separate seasoning sachet included for each serving.

The five available flavours are:

  • Peri Peri
  • Korean Kimchi
  • Tandoori
  • Cheese & Herbs
  • Tomato

Consumers can add the seasoning to the cubes, shake the pack and enjoy them as a crunchy snack.

Amul has also suggested using the cubes in soups, gravies and homemade bhel, positioning the product as both a standalone snack and an ingredient for everyday meals.

Amul Extends Its Protein Portfolio Beyond Dairy Staples

The launch builds on Amul’s expanding high-protein range, which began with products such as high-protein paneer and dahi in 2022.

The cooperative has subsequently added high-protein lassi, buttermilk, milkshakes and whey protein, along with high-protein milk and mango kulfi.

With High Protein Cubes, Amul is moving further into the packaged savoury snack segment, taking its protein proposition beyond conventional dairy consumption occasions.

The product was developed following more than a year of research and development, according to comments by Amul brand manager Shefali Vijaywargiya.

Online-First Availability and Pricing

The product is currently available through the Amul Shop app and the cooperative’s official website.

At ₹80 per 38-gram pack, the five-pack box is priced at ₹400. This positions the product as a convenient, portion-sized protein snack, although its suitability for regular consumption will depend on consumer preferences and affordability.

What This Means for India’s Dairy and Food Industry

Amul’s latest launch highlights how dairy companies are exploring opportunities in the wider functional food and protein-rich packaged food market.

For dairy businesses, the opportunity is no longer limited to selling milk, paneer, curd and traditional beverages. Protein-focused snacks and meal accompaniments can create additional consumption occasions and help brands reach consumers looking for convenient nutrition.

The launch also signals increasing competition in the protein-food category, where taste, convenience, nutritional value and price will influence consumer acceptance.
