The Kolhapur District Milk Producers Cooperative Union, owner of the Gokul Milk brand, has announced an increase in the price of milk in Maharashtra by Rs 2 per liter from Sunday. However, this price increase will not be applicable to Kolhapur, Sangli and Konkan. A statement released on Saturday indicates that Gokul has increased the price of buffalo and cow’s milk by Rs 2 per liter.

However, milk prices have not increased in Kolhapur, Sangli and Konkan. At present, Gokul’s cow’s milk costs Rs 47 per liter. Its price will be Rs 49 per liter from Sunday. At the same time, the price of buffalo milk will drop from Rs 58 to Rs 60 per liter. Union leader Satej Patil said the cost of purchasing buffalo milk has increased by Rs 2 and that of cow’s milk by Rs 1 per liter, which also forces us to increase the price. Gokul procures 12 lakh liters of milk per day throughout the state.

Mother Dairy, one of the main suppliers of milk to the capital Delhi and the NCR, has announced to increase the price of milk by Rs 2 per liter. This price increase will be applicable from Sunday. Previously, Mother Dairy revised milk prices in December 2019. Prior to Mother Dairy, Amul also increased the price of milk by Rs 2 per liter from July 1. Justifying the price hike, Mother Dairy said the cost of purchasing milk for dairy farmers has increased by eight to 10 percent in the past year. Apart from that, other operating expenses have also increased.

Mother Dairy said: “In view of this, she has to increase the price of milk in Delhi-NCR by Rs 2 per liter, which will be effective from July 11. MD said that in eastern and central Uttar Pradesh in Mumbai, milk prices in Nagpur and Kolkata will also increase by Rs 2 per liter from July 11. Mother Dairy’s milk is sold in more than 100 cities across the country.

Delhi’s Mother dairy sells 35 lakh lpd of milk in Delhi NCR

Mother Dairy’s daily sales are 35 lakh liters of milk. From this he sells 30 lakh liters of milk to Delhi-NCR. The company said in a statement that the cost of purchasing milk from dairy farmers has increased by eight to ten percent in the past year. Apart from this, the costs of processing, packaging and logistics have also increased. In the past three or four weeks, the cost of purchasing milk has increased by about four percent, the statement said.

The company said it always tries to find a balance between consumers and milk producers. Only part of the cost of supplying milk has been passed on to consumers. From Sunday, Mother Dairy’s tokenized milk will be at Rs 44 per liter. Currently, its price is Rs 42 per liter. The price of whole milk (Polypack) will drop from Rs 55 to Rs 57 per liter. On the other hand, toned milk will be Rs 45 to 47 per liter and double toned milk will be Rs 39 to Rs 41 per liter. The price of cow’s milk will drop from Rs 47 to Rs 49 per liter. The price of a half-liter bag of milk has been increased by Re. In this sense, the price of a liter will increase by Rs 2 per liter.
