Adulterated and unhygienic dairy foods Seized in Hyderabad
In a major food safety crackdown in Hyderabad, authorities seized around 3.8 tonnes of adulterated and unhygienic dairy products, including paneer, during raids conducted by the Khairtabad Zone Task Force and GHMC food safety teams at six dairy outlets near Ganj Bazar in Secunderabad.
Investigations revealed that the outlets were sourcing paneer, khoa and other dairy items from unidentified suppliers and storing them in open plastic bags exposed to dust, insects and contaminants, making them unsafe for consumption.
The seized stock included about 2.5 kg of paneer, 927 kg of khoa, 249 kg of white cream, 132 kg of kalakand and 12 kg of ghee, with a total estimated value of ₹11.1 lakh. Authorities said the products were being falsely marketed as “high-quality paneer” and sold at around ₹280 per kg to hotels, caterers and retail customers.
Six individuals—Jaipal Singh Rajpurohit, Kolariya Vaibhav, Naresh Kolariya, Prem Anil Vyas, Ram Kishore Kolariya and Laxmi Narayana Kolariya—were apprehended during the operation. Officials also found that the products lacked proper labelling, brand names, manufacturing and expiry dates, and pest-control records, indicating serious violations of food safety norms.
The accused along with the seized materials have been handed over to Mahankali police for further investigation, as authorities intensify action against adulterated dairy supply chains in the city.
