India’s premium dairy segment is set for a major boost following a strategic collaboration between mooMark Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stellapps Technologies, and Japan’s Akiba Farm Holdings to develop value-added dairy products and premium gelato offerings in India.
The Indo-Japanese partnership aims to combine mooMark’s digitally enabled and traceable dairy ecosystem with Akiba Farm Holdings’ expertise in artisanal dairy production and premium gelato craftsmanship to strengthen India’s fast-growing premium dairy market. According to reports, mooMark currently operates a large-scale dairy digitisation network supporting millions of farmers across thousands of villages in multiple Indian states through farm-to-factory traceability and data-driven supply chain systems.
As part of the collaboration, the companies will establish a dedicated innovation mini-lab focused on premium dairy product formulation inspired by Japanese principles of precision and craftsmanship. The partnership will also introduce Japanese Total Mixed Ration (TMR) feeding systems to improve cattle nutrition, milk yield and sustainability outcomes across mooMark’s smallholder dairy network using digital monitoring systems for real-time farm-level data tracking.
Industry observers say the collaboration reflects growing momentum in India’s value-added dairy products (VADP) segment, driven by rising urban consumption, premiumisation trends and increasing demand for differentiated dairy products such as gelato, specialty cheese, probiotic products and functional dairy beverages. Experts believe technology-led dairy traceability, international collaborations and advanced feeding practices could play a key role in improving quality consistency and export competitiveness in India’s premium dairy sector.
