Milk Tops Orders in India’s Quick Commerce Trends: Zepto Report
Prefer on

According to Zepto’s 2025 annual trends report, milk emerged as the most-ordered item across major Indian metros, highlighting how quick commerce demand for daily essentials has surged alongside traditional grocery habits. In Bengaluru, Nandini milk led with approximately 8.8 million units ordered, while in Mumbai and Delhi NCR, Amul milk accounted for around 9 million and 7.2 million units respectively, making dairy the top quick-commerce staple of the year. Fresh produce such as tomatoes and onions followed closely behind in consumer demand, underscoring the shift toward online ordering for everyday kitchen needs.
The Zepto report revealed that quick commerce platforms are increasingly integrated into everyday shopping routines, with consumers relying on ultra-fast delivery for staples rather than exclusively for impulse purchases. Overall engagement was massive, with the app opened more than 3.46 billion times in 2025, and delivery partners covering over 24.5 million kilometres to fulfil orders.

Across cities, the preference for milk over other categories indicates not just a convenience trend but a structural shift in how consumers access basic food items. While snacks, beverages and packaged goods also featured prominently in city-specific charts, dairy stood out as the consistent leader — pointing to the essential role milk continues to play in Indian households even within emerging on-demand retail channels.
