Prioritizing Milk's Nutritional Superiority: A Call for FSSAI to Review Health Star Rating Systems

Published on August 11, 2025Sir, FSSAI is preparing to roll out the Front-of-Pack Labelling (FOPL) rating system under the directive of the Hon’ble Supreme Court. However, in today’s meeting, the long-standing request from the dairy sector to assign a separate rating category for dairy products has still not been considered. If the current system is implemented as is, natural dairy products will receive lower health ratings than highly processed synthetic alternatives. This flawed comparison not only misleads consumers but also threatens the livelihoods of 80 million dairy farmers across India. It would be a grave injustice to the most trusted and nutrition-rich sector of Indian dairying . Kindly ask your team to make appropriate representation to FSSAI at company level and later with IDA also . 🙏🏻🙏🏻.
