Kolhapur Jilha Dudh Utpadak Sangh, popularly known as Gokul dairy, has set up a plant at Gadmudshingi village, on the outskirts of Kolhapur city, to manufacture ayurvedic formulations for diseases of milch animals — cows and buffaloes.
The dairy administration claims that it is the first of its kind plant set up in Maharashtra.
Two of these plants are currently operational in Gujarat.
National Dairy Development Board has partially funded the construction of the plant and the rest is funded by Gokul dairy itself.
“We treated nearly 44,000 cows and buffaloes using ayurvedic formulations. Now we have our own plant. The dairy has spent Rs 1.26 crore to set up the plant which will be operational from Monday,” said Arun Dongale, chairman of the dairy.
